2. Connect the panels together MOUNTING HARDWARE COMPONENTS REGARDLESS OF WHATEVER SURFACE YOU ARE MOUNTING YOUR PANELS ONTO, BE SURE IT IS FREE OF ANY SHARP OBJECTS (NAILS, STAPLES, TWIGS, pebbles ETC.) THAT COULD PUNCTURE THE PANELS FROM UNDERNEATH. VERY IMPORTANT!! SIMILARLY, BE CAREFUL BRINGING THE PANELS ONTO THE ROOF TO AVOID ANYTHING SHARP. IF YOU DO PUNCTURE OR CUT A PANEL TUBE, IT CAN usually BE PLUGGED USING A REPAIR KIT AVAILABLE FROM YOUR DEALER. Remember, panels are most vulnerable to damage prior to mounting to roof or rack. Mounting procedure step-by-step If using the older anodized aluminum ST BRACKET (#6947) on the upper header, slide one on each panel headers prior to installing rubber couplers and connecting them together. We recommend their use since they are easier to use, stonger, and more durable than cleat and strap method. USE ON UPPER HEADER ONLY. The very newest ST Clamp (#8508) is similar to the ST Bracket but is in two pieces so it does NOT need to be installed on the header ahead of the couplers.
IF WINDY, BE CAREFUL HANDLING PANELS SINCE THEY CAN ACT AS A SAIL. IN SUCH CASES IT MIGHT BE NECESSARY TO MOUNT ONE PANEL AT A TIME OR WAIT UNTIL WIND DIES DOWN. Copyright © 2001
