Troubleshooting Solar Pool Heating Systems and Components.

ecosystems offers a troubleshooting service to existing pool solar owners.  From our vast experience, we can usually solve any problem related to system design, installation, and/or function either by phone, fax, or email (click "Contact us").

Simply contact us with your problem and let us get back to you.  Be as specific as you can.  Please include the following whenever possible if they can assist our understanding:

  • Detailed description of the problem
  • Photos
  • Diagrams or drawings
  • Schematics

If you are not sure where to start, contact us with a means of getting back to you and let us ask you for the specifics. 

Some of the more common problems

  • Panel leaks
    • Tighten panel clamps every 2-3 years
    • Seal FAFCO panel leaks with FAFCO repair kit (kit instructions)
    • If not FAFCO, call us.
    • If possibly freeze-related damage, make sure plumbing allows drainage.
    • Other, call us
  • Control not working
    • Check power
    • Check sensors resistance-ohms (10K sensor temperature-resistance chart)
    • Check and redo every sensor wire splice; corrosion can be an issue
    • Open-up motor on solar valve and see if there is any obstructions or worn parts
    • Control don't last much over 15 years.  Replace with new see Solar Controls
      • All FAFCO controls are now obsolete and should be replaced
